Hello JOHN,
This season is a time to reflect upon all that we are thankful for. I am grateful to be able to represent the people of New York’s 5th district today and every day—it is an honor and a privilege to serve our community.
I am also thankful that House Democrats led a bipartisan coalition to keep our government open through the holidays. This means that families will be able to travel home for the holidays without unnecessary TSA-related complications at the airport, and most importantly that hundreds of thousands of working people and active servicemembers will stay on the payroll this holiday season.
Over the past two months, radical conservatives created chaos in the House by ousting their own speaker, failing to replace him four times, and bringing our government to the brink of a shutdown twice. Now, I am eager to get back to serving the people of New York’s 5th District. I call on my Republican colleagues to join me by putting an end to their political games that threaten access to abortion and funding for Social Security and Medicare. I will always stand united with my Democratic colleagues to put people over politics.
