This guide will walk you through which items qualify for tax credits (adding up to thousands of dollars each year!) and the step-by-step process of upgrading your home to be more energy efficient.

Here are just a few examples:

• Air-source heat pumps for heating and cooling are eligible for a tax credit of up to $2,000 per year (and yes – they work in most colder climates too!)
• Get hundreds of dollars back on exterior doors, windows, and insulation that will keep warm or cool air in your house, also saving you big money on your utility bills (an average of $1050 to $2600 per year).
• If you need to expand your home's electrical system capacity to support a larger electricity load, you can claim 30% of the total cost up to $600 per item.
• Adding a home electric vehicle charger can qualify for a $1,000 tax credit for people in rural and low-income communities, depending on the location.
• Get up to 30% of rooftop solar installation costs covered by tax credits. All together, the Inflation Reduction Act can help you save about $300 per year or $9,000 over the life of your new rooftop solar system.
