2023 has been marked by a heart-breaking tidal wave of anti-transgender attacks becoming law. More than 80 discriminatory laws were enacted, and families of transgender youth in almost every Southern state are being forced to travel sometimes hundreds of miles – just to access medically necessary healthcare that has been banned in their state.

But that's not the full story; it ignores the reality that a majority of Americans, including a majority in the South, support transgender and queer youth. And so, as we focus our efforts on fighting anti-trans laws, we must also lift up and elevate stories of hope, joy, and love.
