Additionally, Día de Esperanza (Day of Hope) took place this past Friday, November 19, and the recording can be watched on Facebook and YouTube. This special event includes a panel discussion among three survivors of suicide loss, each with a powerful perspective on mental health and suicide prevention in Hispanic and Latinx culture. The conversation considers how these communities face specific challenges –– such as stigma surrounding suicide, and the impact of cultural beliefs on understanding around mental health –– and also explores strategies for overcoming those challenges by encouraging open and honest dialogue. Día de Esperanza is a unique opportunity for people in Hispanic and Latinx communities who have been affected by suicide loss to find connection, understanding, and hope through shared cultural experience.
