Hi John,
I hope you have a relaxing holiday tomorrow surrounded by the people you love. Each Thanksgiving, as my grandchildren gather around our dining room table and our dog camps out under their chairs, I feel immense gratitude for those special moments.
But the state of the world and the important work of the American Lung Association, an organization to which I've dedicated over 40 years of life, are also never far from my thoughts.
And so, despite all the uncertainty in the world today, this Thanksgiving I will also take solace in our achievements over the last year, knowing that we are making a real difference for people living with lung disease.
1. In June, we announced that one million(!) people had completed our

The Scan lung cancer screening quiz. Since we launched in 2017, lung cancer
screening rates among those eligible have increased by more than 170%.
2. In September, we reached an enrollment of 1,000 millennials aged 25-35 in our

lung health cohort study . This study will support a better understanding of how
factors early in life contribute to lung function.
3. Just last month, we announced $13.6 million in support of

projects . Every new project we can support puts us one step closer to
eliminating lung disease and lung cancer.
All this progress and more is fueled by passionate people like you, John. That’s why I’m also giving thanks for your support this year. With you on our side, I’m optimistic about the months and years ahead.
Sincerely,
Harold Wimmer
