Dear John, As many of us ready to gather with friends and family, I am filled with gratitude for every PFLAG member — from those courageous LGBTQ+ people and family members who gathered in a church basement in Manhattan’s West Village neighborhood in 1973 to the dedicated volunteers who formed new PFLAG chapters in 36 communities this past year. Thanks to your support, we honored our dynamic 50-year history of leading with love – loudly and proudly. As PFLAG has done for decades, we supported transgender people — especially youth — and their families, bringing four lawsuits in three states to fight bans on healthcare and to challenge harmful child abuse investigations of loving families. Across the country, PFLAG members supported by our Read with Love initiative have reinforced the value that our communities thrive when our schools and libraries are filled with books and resources that include all of us. And last month, PFLAG members, supporters, and leaders from across the United States and 14 other countries gathered for Learning With Love: The 2023 PFLAG National Convention to advocate, listen, and learn together. Your support has made so much of our work possible. Thank you. Whether you’re gathering with family and friends, volunteering in your community, taking time to enjoy a special meal, or spending time in reflection, my wish for each of you is hope, peace and joy now and throughout the year. With PFLAG love and resolve, Susan Thronson (she/her) Chair, Board of DIrectors P.S. Please remember PFLAG National on #GivingTuesday, next week on Tuesday, November 28. Keep an eye on your inbox and on PFLAG National’s Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to learn ways you can help. |
