Did you know that collectively, members of Congress will spend almost a staggering 10,000 hours a week making fundraising calls to lobbyists, corporations, and unions? It’s a sad reality that fundraising comes at the expense of truly serving the needs of the people.
Even more troubling is the fact that members of Congress can accept contributions, often in the thousands of dollars, only to find themselves in a hearing the very next day discussing issues that directly impact the corporations that have just made a contribution.
It’s time for a change. Dean is the only member of Congress who does not solicit or accept money from lobbyists, special interest PACs, and fellow congressional campaign committees. That’s how he won his first election - just talking to his constituents and gaining their support. |
