Countries that have done the least to cause the climate crisis are feeling the worst of its impacts.
But earlier this year Mr Sunak looked set to cut the UK’s £11.6 billion pledge to help countries vulnerable to climate breakdown.
Thanks to thousands of us speaking up together, we pressured the PM to keep this pledge and it worked.
This story doesn’t have a perfect ending. Since then the government has fiddled some of the rules about the funding [1]. So countries in need won’t get as much help as originally implied by the government. But we helped stop it being slashed even further.
Now it's time to speak up again. Let’s tell the prime minister to create a new plan to meet the UK’s 2030 target to cut emissions by over two thirds. Please make sure you sign your name before I deliver the letter to the PM at COP28.
