Dear John,
This holiday season, I’m grateful for community.
To me, community includes The Sentencing Project staff, our national, state, and local partners, and everyone who supports an end to mass incarceration.
This year has been extremely challenging in many ways – in a way we haven’t seen in decades – with harmful rhetoric and misinformation that have the potential to erase our progress over the last ten years.
Yet, you’ve remained focused on our goals and stood behind the importance of our mission. You share our values around ending mass incarceration and advancing racial justice.
I hope that in the weeks and months to come, you’ll continue to boldly stand with us to advance more equitable and effective public safety strategies that prioritize dignity, healing, and rehabilitation.
Thank you for being part of my community.
With gratitude,
Kara Gotsch
Acting Executive Director
