More than 3 million Americans were displaced by a ‘natural’ disaster in the past year. How can we prepare for our climate future?
According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, there have been 66 major disaster declarations in 2023 so far, a record-setting pace that’s depleted financial resources and stretched emergency management offices thin.
How have these disasters affected American households and families, and what insights do they offer for getting ready for a warmer future?
To help the US better prepare and lessen the number of people displaced by natural disasters, policy solutions will need to come from all corners of the government—not just emergency management offices.
