Countdown to COP 28: Everything you need to know, all in one place

This year’s UN Climate Change Conference (COP 28) in Dubai is a pivotal moment for strategic decisions and meaningful outcomes to avoid the catastrophic consequences of climate change.

Kicking off next Thursday, this COP will see the conclusion of the inaugural global stocktake—a critical opportunity to assess progress in achieving the Paris Agreement's objectives on climate mitigation and adaptation. All eyes will also be on the highly anticipated Global Goal on Adaptation, as well as how negotiators address the need to phase out fossil fuels.

Check out IISD’s Inside COP 28 page to get up to speed on what’s happening. We’ve got helpful FAQs on what to watch for, expert analysis on emerging developments, and links to our COP 28 side events (including the return of our popular Halfway Point Webinar). Also, remember to bookmark the IISD-ENB COP 28 page, where you can find daily reports on the negotiations, summaries of what's being discussed “in the corridors,” and photographs of everything from policy-maker huddles to civil society demonstrations.
