McDonald's refuses to give cooks and cashiers like me paid sick leave -- even in the face of the coronavirus epidemic.

SIGN NOW: Tell McDonald's to give workers paid sick leave NOW.

John,

If I got sick with the coronavirus, I don't know what I'd do. That's not okay – act now.

I work 6 days a week at McDonald's in Kansas City making $11.50 an hour. As a single mom, my teenage boys depend on me to keep the lights on and put food on the table. The last time I called in sick, I couldn't pay my electric bill and had to beg the utility company for an extension.

But McDonald's refuses to give workers like me paid sick leave. Most of us have no choice – either we come into work sick or we end up on the streets.

Tell McDonald's: stop putting workers AND the public's lives at risk – we need paid sick days!

The new 'coronavirus' is just another example of how McDonald's fails its workers.

My coworkers and I all know if one of us got sick with the coronavirus it could create a domino effect. Even with each of us doing our best, it could easily go from a sick worker to the customer to the community...

We can't let that happen. McDonald's can't let that happen.

McDonald's cancelled their global convention to protect executives and franchise owners, but they've refused to make meaningful changes to protect more than 200,000 workers and 68 million customers per day.

That's why we're demanding McDonald's take action to protect their workers and the public:

  1. Most Important: Provide paid sick leave to all workers and free medical care for possible COVID-19 infection.

  2. Update its safety protocols, enough supplies, and staffing to meet cleaning needs.

  3. Payment for missed shifts due to restaurant closures.

  4. Public notices and staff training on McDonald's coronavirus policy in all stores

Sign the petition: demand McDonald's provide paid leave to ALL workers and take action to protect us from coronavirus!

In Solidarity,

Fran Marion
