Jack, Daily Kos is both a progressive news outlet and progressive advocacy organization. Not only do we deliver the news, but we provide the tools so you can take immediate and effective action about what you are reading—no one else does that.

The bad news is that both news outlets and advocacy organizations have been plagued with financial hardships for the last couple of years, with this year being particularly difficult. News outlets have seen decreasing advertising revenue resulting in a record number of layoffs so far this year, worse than during the pandemic. Meanwhile, progressive advocacy organizations have seen a deep dive in fundraising, also resulting in widespread layoffs, and even some organizations to shut down.

Daily Kos hasn't been immune to these financial struggles. For years now, advertising revenue hasn't been enough to support our operations; we have relied more and more on donations from our readers and activists to help pay the bills. Unfortunately, this month we have seen a big drop in the number of donations: so far this month we have 2,435 fewer donations than at this time last month.

We can't continue producing the quality of work you have come to expect from us if we have fewer resources to support our work. We currently need to raise another $146,929 to hit our monthly fundraising goal. Please support Daily Kos with a donation of $5 or more.
