Assistant Attorney General Michael Moody Elected President of National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates
*LANSING* ? The National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates (NASUCA) announced this month [ [link removed] ] their membership elected Assistant Attorney General Michael Moody, Division Chief of the Special Litigation Division in the Michigan Department of Attorney General, to serve as President of the national organization.?NASUCA [ [link removed] ] is a voluntary association of 61 consumer advocate offices in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Barbados, with associate and affiliate non-government members that also represent utility consumer interests. NASUCA?s members represent the interests of utility consumers before state and federal regulators and in the courts.?Moody is the organization?s first president from the State of Michigan.?
?This is a tremendous honor for Michael and the Department of Attorney General,? said Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. ?Michael wholly deserves this recognition and earned this new position by his years of admirable leadership and advocacy for utility consumers in Michigan. Consumer advocacy and protection have deep roots in the Department of Attorney General, and Michael Moody demonstrates these values daily. I am glad to share his talents with NASUCA, and I am sure he will serve their national membership well.????
Michael Moody has served the Department of Attorney General since 1995, and currently heads the Special Litigation Division, which advocates for utility consumers on behalf of the Attorney General before the Public Service Commission, federal agencies, and in the courts.?
?Eternal General Frank Kelley created the Special Litigation Division in the late seventies because of his desire to fight on behalf of consumers and it is Attorney General Dana Nessel?s revival of that advocacy spirit that encouraged me to lead?NASUCA,??said Moody. ?It is an honor to lead both AG Nessel?s utility consumer advocacy division and the national organization.?Because of AG Nessel?s strong consumer advocacy, Michigan now helps lead the nation in fighting for affordable utility rates.??
NASUCA was established in 1979 to represent and support utility consumer advocates in their efforts to achieve safe, reliable, and reasonably priced utility services nationwide. The Department of Attorney General is a founding member of NASUCA has been an active member since its creation.?
