![]() My parents taught me a lot of things over the years: Treat others the way you want to be treated; Learn from your mistakes; Never give up; Etc. However, there’s one lesson that has come to stand above the rest. A lesson that’s guided my entire time in public office. Education is key to a better, safer world. My fifth-grade school picture. My parents, who were both teachers, instilled in me the importance of education from a very young age. I spent my afternoons reading and my weekends attending engineering classes designed to help minority students pursue careers in engineering. And with that, I was able to earn scholarships and put myself through school, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. I know, firsthand, the importance of educational opportunity. But these days, access to quality, affordable education feels out of reach for so many families across the country. The cost of higher education is skyrocketing. Student loan debt is out of control. Teachers and students don’t have the resources they need to succeed inside and outside the classroom. If educational opportunity is essential to creating a better America, Congress needs to act like it. So that’s why I’m running. I’ll be proud to put my parents’ teachings into practice in Congress to deliver for our kids. But I need your help to do so. If you’re able, will you make a donation to my campaign to help me fight for quality, accessible education for all in Congress?
Thank you so much, Janelle |
