John,
I'm reaching out with urgent concerns about the escalating rhetoric from former President Donald Trump as he intensifies his political activities.
In a recent speech in New Hampshire, Trump used the term "vermin" to describe political opponents - whom he claimed “lie and steal and cheat on elections.”
This choice of language is alarming, irresponsible, and dangerous. It’s a historically charged term, used in the past by authoritarian leaders who encouraged the view that their opponents were rodents worthy of extermination.
We can’t take this lightly. It isn’t just playful trash-talking. It’s a potential incitement to violence, and it not only risks the safety of real people, but it undermines the principles of democracy.
As Secretary of State, I feel a responsibility to address this issue directly.
Will you join me in standing against dangerous rhetoric and working to safeguard our democratic values? Your support is crucial in countering extremism and protecting the integrity of our political discourse.
