The Jackson Sun: “Decatur County leaders vote to close rural Tennessee hospital”
Another rural hospital in Tennessee is set to close its doors.
john, this is a crisis.
This will be the 4th rural hospital to close in Tennessee since I launched this campaign in front of another closed hospital in McKenzie. At least 13 have closed in our state since 2012 and now Tennessee leads the nation in closed rural hospitals per person.
As health care costs rise, health insurance payments lag behind, and over time, rural hospitals can’t afford to operate.
Tennessee families in those rural communities are left to make tough decisions like figuring out how to take time off work or school to drive the long distances to the nearest provider or they are forced to make dangerous decisions like putting off or foregoing care altogether.
No one should be forced to choose between their health or putting food on the table. Add your name and demand our leaders take action to protect and expand access to health care →
Not only are Republican leaders failing to address this crisis, they’re actively trying to take away health care from millions of Americans by supporting a Supreme Court case that could overturn the Affordable Care Act in its entirety.
Enough is enough.
We need our leaders to work to improve health care -- not take it away. john, add your name today →
In service,
James
