Despite spending most of his time in Congress trying to build a national profile for himself, a lot of folks had never heard of Ken Buck until this year. 

But Buck recently emerged as someone in today's GOP willing to show a little courage - telling his fellow Republicans that trying to impeach Joe Biden was a mistake, voting against Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House, and standing up for the rule of law in voting to certify Joe Biden’s win in the 2020 presidential election.

But in today’s ultra-MAGA GOP, courage is more of a liability than an asset. In the face of an aggressive primary from a full-on Trump devotee, Buck recently announced he’s dropping out of the race.

Enter Weld County Commissioner Trent Leisy, who is now the GOP front-runner. You can see why it’s critical that he doesn’t win this seat:

Trent Leisy would be more divisive, toxic, and embarrassing even than Congresswoman Lauren Boebert. But he is also so out of touch with the good people of this state and this district, that this seat is absolutely in play.

If Trent Leisy wins, the U.S. Congress won’t just lose another Republican who at least has the capacity to occasionally act like a patriot. It will be adding a guy who has made no secret of his utter contempt for anyone who disagrees with him, someone who has and will encourage violence and insurrection—someone who will actually make Colorado families less safe.

With the 4th District GOP on the cusp of nominating someone so extreme, Democrats can flip this seat and hopefully, secure a House Majority. But only with strong financial support.
