Did you see what happened in Ohio?

FIRST, earlier this year, Republicans in the gerrymandered state legislature tried to change the rules to make it harder to protect abortion rights in the Ohio constitution.

New Republic: “Ohio Republicans’ Devious Plot to Stop Voters From Legalizing Abortion”

“The fight over reproductive rights in the Buckeye State begins with an August special election on an obscure ballot measure.” (July 12, 2023)

BUT THEN, Ohio voters rejected their anti-democratic scheme.

The Guardian: “Ohio Republicans bet voters would dilute their own power. They lost.” (August, 10, 2023)

AND NOW, Ohio voters have once again made their voices heard.

NBC: “Ohio voters enshrine abortion rights in state constitution” (November 7, 2023)

“If the very gerrymandered state legislature had its way, Republicans would have put in place a ban totally inconsistent with the desires of the people. A concrete example of the pernicious effect of gerrymandering and why we have to fight to eliminate it.” – Attorney General Eric Holder

A.G. Holder is right – that’s why the NDRC is fighting across the country to end gerrymandering so voters can make their voices heard.

More than a dozen congressional districts could be redrawn before next year’s election.
