I was honored to meet with Representative Gabby Giffords earlier this month as she visited Denver as part of her tireless, determined efforts to turn the tide on the wave of gun violence that has plagued our country. At Columbine, to the Aurora Theater Shooting, Sandy Hook and Uvalde – and at so many more places around our nation, we have seen unfathomable tragedy. Our nation is calling for change. Leaders like Representative Giffords have heard that call. As a survivor and champion for gun violence prevention, she's leading the charge toward the safer future our children and communities deserve—and I'm proud to stand with her.

The reality of gun violence is something I am all too familiar with – as Colorado’s U.S. Attorney, I was present at the scene of two of Colorado's most devastating mass shootings: the Aurora movie theater murders and later, the Planned Parenthood attack in Colorado Springs. That terrible experience galvanized my commitment to address gun violence, and led the Obama Administration to ask me to be one of its lead witnesses supporting President Obama’s gun violence proposals in the wake of Aurora and Sandy Hook.

According to data from Everytown for Gun Safety, a leading organization in gun violence research, every day in America, 120 people are fatally shot, and over 200 are shot and wounded. This epidemic of gun violence permanently scars our communities, with each of us likely to know someone affected in our lifetime.
As your next Denver District Attorney, I will fight to protect our community against gun violence, both by faithfully enforcing the laws we have on the books, and seeking reforms to make our laws more effective. We will tackle the gun violence crisis head-on with the community, using proven strategies, informed by the pursuit of justice. |

By supporting my campaign, you're investing in a vision of a community where our streets, schools, and homes are safer – and more just – for everyone. Together, we have the power to shape a safer world, transforming our grief into a driving force for positive change. Thank you for your continued support. Sincerely, John |
