Project description: Brown's Creek Watershed District proposes to conduct a stream habitat enhancement project in Brown's Creek to address floodplain abandonment, accelerated bank erosion, invasive species, and degraded instream habitat to restore the ecological and hydrologic functions of the creek and adjacent floodplain. The project will include reconnecting the creek with the floodplain, installing grade control riffles to limit channel incision, installing woody material and boulders for instream habitat, removing woody invasive species, and reestablishing native riparian vegetation. The project will be funded by a federal 319 grant administered by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and funds levied on property within the jurisdiction of the Brown's Creek Watershed District.

Project description: The Minnesota Department of Veteran's Affairs (MDVA) desires to demolish Building #13, former laundry and heating plant, (Building #13) on the Minneapolis Veteran's Home Campus located at 5101 Minnehaha Avenue South in Minneapolis. The building is within Historic Core Area 2 of the Minnesota Old Soldiers Home National Historic District and its currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. After the completion of two studies conducted to evaluate the renovation and repurposing of the building, the MDVA has determined that renovation and repurposing of the building is not cost effective and that the building is no longer beneficial to its stakeholders.

Project description: The AUAR study area encompasses an area totaling approximately 235 acres on 12 parcels in the City of Rosemount, Dakota County, Minnesota. Scannell Properties, LLC is proposing to redevelop the study area from existing agriculture to business park uses. One scenario is proposed for evaluation in the AUAR and includes multiple buildings for a total of 1.92 million square feet of proposed industrial development. The proposed development within the AUAR study area is anticipated to start Fall 2023.

Project description: Xcel Energy and the City of Northfield are partnering to conduct an Alternative Urban Areawide Review (AUAR) for an approximately 787-acre area in the northwestern portion of the City of Northfield. Portions of the AUAR area include land within Greenvale Township. Two development scenarios will be evaluated as part of the AUAR which primarily consist of technology center and industrial park uses.

Project description: The City of Edina has updated the Gateway Study Area AUAR. This is a 135 acre redevelopment area between TH100, France Avenue, 76th Street West, and the border with the City of Bloomington.

Minnesota Duty Officer reports pertaining to fish kills are summarized in the following table, in accordance with 103G.216, REPORTING FISH KILLS IN PUBLIC WATERS, Subd. 2 Reporting Requirement. These reports were received via the Minnesota Duty Officer prior to the submission deadline for this edition of the EQB Monitor. They represent the raw data/information provided by callers. For more information regarding fish kills in Minnesota see the Department of Natural Resources. Call the Minnesota Duty Officer at 651‐649‐5451 or 800‐422‐0798 to report fish kills.
