Friend, California made history when we implemented universal voter registration, helping drive the record-breaking voter turnout we saw in 2022.
Across the country, however, nearly one third of eligible Americans remain unregistered to vote. We know this disparity impacts BIPOC communities, low-income people, and young adults at a vastly disproportionate rate.
Automatic voter registration doesn’t just dismantle the systemic barriers that keep people disenfranchised — it helps create active, lifelong participants in our democracy by engaging young people in the electoral process as soon as they are eligible.
23 states have adopted automatic voter registration laws — a major win for supporters of democracy — but that means we still need wins in more than half the country.
That’s why we need your help to urge state leaders across the U.S. to enact automatic voter registration policies.
