Here’s the full story:

FIRST Mississippians passed a marijuana legalization measure in 2021, and were prepared to take Medicaid expansion to the ballot box – providing life-saving coverage for millions of citizens. THEN The Mississippi state legislature THREW OUT legislation that would have restored the state’s ballot measure process. NOW 2 years in a row now, the state house has refused to reinstate the use of voter-driven ballot measures – even though 72% of Mississippi voters want to see their ballot measure process reinstated. This is more than a HUGE attack on democracy. This move is in direct opposition to the will of Mississippi voters!! Our team at the Fairness Project alongside local advocacy groups have been calling for state politicians to restore the fundamental right of direct democracy to Mississippi voters. Will you help us keep up the fight by donating today? DONATE
