Friend,
Last week, we celebrated Trans Awareness Week. Yesterday, we honored the trans, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming people whose lives were cut short by senseless acts of violence.
These two opportunities to honor and protect transgender Pennsylvanians go hand-in-hand. To be truly “aware” of the trans experience is to confront the transphobia, bigotry, and bureaucratic red tape that further endangers the most vulnerable in our community.
This year, I’m proud our House passed basic non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians — and I’m ready to vote a resounding “yes” on the Fairness Act when it’s brought to a full vote in the Senate. But that’s just one small, though critical, step toward making our Commonwealth a safe and inclusive place for all of us.
As a member of our LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus, I’m fighting to ensure we continue passing legislation that protects trans Pennsylvanians, from passing the Fairness Act to streamlining the name-changing process and supporting legislation that will protect LGBTQ+ students against discrimination in our schools.
If you're ready to see these bills become law, please sign on to my petition and join the fight to expand protections for trans Pennsylvanians.

While I hope you’ll add your name, my most important ask today is that you take a moment to ensure you’re doing your part to be an ally for trans Pennsylvanians.
Whether it’s taking a basic step like informing yourself about gender identities ([link removed]) or learning how to testify against anti-trans legislation ([link removed]), everyone has a role in making our state safer and more inclusive.
In solidarity,
Lindsey Williams
