Here's what I'm thankful for, John:

My family, our community, and folks like you.

Nowadays just turning on the news can be enough to make you feel overwhelmed. Wars, disasters, and crises are happening every day, and it's not always clear what we can do to make a difference.

That is why I am grateful for my family, community, and country, because even when things feel impossible — when the odds are stacked against us — I know I can count on them to join me in the fight for what's right, to stand tall for all.

When I came back to western Iowa and decided to challenge Steve King I knew my family had my back, but I was astonished by the support that came pouring in from folks in our community and across the country. People volunteered their time and resources to our cause and fought to stop his extremism. It is an honor to fight for Iowans, but it is an even greater honor to have them fighting alongside you.

And their tenacity didn't stop there. When I decided to run for the State House, those same folks were beside me, and this time they brought their friends and family. It was the members of our community who made this movement possible.

I have a lot to be thankful for, but I am most grateful for my family, community, and supporters like you.
