[1]Justice Democrats
John,
When Justice Democrats candidates Cori Bush and Rashida Tlaib first
introduced a resolution in Congress calling for a ceasefire and release of
all hostages in Israel and Palestine, only 16 other House members had the
courage to join them.
Every member of the Squad — all people of color and mostly women — called
for a ceasefire from the very beginning, and each of them was attacked for
it. From hateful vitriol spewed by colleagues on both sides of the aisle,
to a formal censure against Rashida, to opposition ads against Summer and
Jamaal, to AIPAC announcing their plans to spend $100 million to unseat
the Squad in 2024 — the attacks were swift and ruthless.
But after weeks of growing public pressure, including ongoing marches and
peaceful protests across the country, as well as multiple polls showing an
overwhelming majority of Democratic voters in favor of a ceasefire, the
tide is turning.
Today, 41 members of Congress from all walks of life support a ceasefire,
and that list is only growing by the day. Despite the Democratic
establishment’s resistance to listen to the people they were elected to
serve and fight for the human rights of all, more and more Democratic
leaders are finding the courage to stand up to AIPAC and stand on the
right side of history in order to save innocent lives.
This is progress, but we will never forget who led and continues to lead
this fight for peace: progressive, working-class women of color.
[ [link removed] ]Justice Democrats is committed to supporting and re-electing Squad
members like Cori, Rashida, Ilhan, Summer, AOC, and Ayanna next year so
they can continue to lead the way, but we count on grassroots support from
folks like you to do it. Pitch in $3 or whatever you can to
help us defend them now and in 2024 →

Who knows where we would be right now without the leadership of the Squad.
Let’s do everything we can to keep them in Congress and keep making
progress.
