The Supreme Court has heard and will rule on a pivotal firearms case–whether people under domestic abuse restraining orders should be prohibited from owning guns.
Domestic violence and gun violence are deeply interconnected, impacting millions of people, families, and communities across the U.S. Abusers with firearms are five times more likely to kill their female victims.
Domestic violence protective orders that prohibit firearm possession are a vital tool to protect victims and survivors from further harm. Common sense laws that keep abusers from obtaining guns save lives, but now the Supreme Court could reverse this vital protection.
