Dear Mr. xxxxxx,
I wanted to pass along my latest update on what I have been doing to fight for you, Texas’ 21st Congressional district, and our country as a whole:
No more excuses. Republicans have the majority in the House of Representatives, but what have we done with it? Last week, I asked my Republican colleagues from the House floor to give me one thing that we have done this year – just one thing. Republicans campaign on cutting spending, securing the southern border, and standing with Israel, yet we have done very little to achieve any of those things. Over the past 20 years of my career, both as a Hill staffer and now as a representative, I have heard nothing but a litany of excuses and empty promises. We cannot consistently kick the can down the road, the time for excuses is over.
The ugly truth about swamp spending
Last week, the ugly truth about swamp spending was exposed. During the Rules Committee, one of my Democrat colleagues argued that Congress gets to dictate the “law of the land” in terms of spending – not the Constitution or the American people. This is completely backwards and nothing like our Founder’s vision.
This year, I’ve fought to fix a very broken spending process and rebuild it in a way where the American people have full transparency. Constantly, I am faced with resistance when I dare ask questions about how taxpayer money is being used. I promise to keep fighting to expose the truth about swamp spending and to return this institution to match the true law of the land – the Constitution.
