Fall 2023
Dear Friend,
The service and sacrifices of American airmen and women must always be
remembered. That goes for the pioneers of aerial combat in World War I biplanes, today’s
defenders of freedom in supersonic aircraft, and every high-flying hero of the
intervening years — including those of the so-called “Forgotten War” on the
Korean Peninsula.
The Korean War was a fierce conflict that cost millions of lives. And yet it is
often overlooked, which is an insult to all the veterans who served in it.
There is no such omission at the American Air Museum in Britain. That is due to
museum members like you who are dedicated to honoring all American airmen and women of every era.
This issue of American Air Museum eNews brings information on the Korean War, the armistice agreement that ended the
fighting, and an iconic WWII aircraft that served throughout the conflict.
From small personal items carefully displayed in museum exhibits to massive
aircraft that are part of our stellar collection, your support is essential to ensuring inspirations of the past are not lost to
history.
