Jack, sign the petition: We need a REAL Supreme Court code of conduct.

Following public outcries over Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito accepting lavish gifts and luxury vacations from GOP megadonors–and then refusing to recuse themselves from cases with direct ties to those donors–the Supreme Court adopted its own code of conduct.

Guess what?! It isn’t binding or enforceable in any way – meaning it likely wouldn’t have prevented these major scandals in the first place!

This half-measure the Court proposed is no substitute for binding, enforceable Congressional action.

The highest court in the land should be held to the highest ethical standards. The Senate Judiciary Committee’s continued pressure and investigations into undisclosed gifts sparked the need for the Supreme Court to act, but it seems we cannot trust that body to govern itself.

This is still a matter for Congress and they must address this in order to restore any faith back into the Court. Congress must pass the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act and create the strongest possible code of conduct for our highest court.

Sign our petition urging Congress to pass a stronger, binding code of conduct.
