With winter fast approaching, polar bear mothers will soon begin denning with their cubs.
If the company behind the Willow oil monstrosity gets its way, convoys of trucks weighing nearly 100,000 pounds could soon be rolling through polar bear habitat, which could scare off mothers and leave cubs abandoned.

The Western Arctic is the largest, most intact stretch of wilderness in the United States. It must be protected — not turned into an oilfield.
But ConocoPhilips has asked the feds to allow a "seismic exploration program" this winter.
This means fracturing the Arctic ecosystem with massive trucks and camps, all to explore this landscape for oil. It's also a sign the hunt for oil in the area could expand beyond Willow.
Just days ago we filed an emergency motion to stop the Willow project from breaking more ground.
We'll also be pushing an appellate court to decide on the legality of Willow's approval so we can stop it once and for all.
Not one new oil well should be built in Alaska's Western Arctic.
Rubberstamping massive fossil fuel projects and oil extraction in the Arctic is the last thing we need. The Arctic is warming four times faster than the rest of the planet.
To avoid irreversible climate devastation, we must end all new fossil fuel projects and immediately begin phasing out production.
We'll keep fighting to protect polar bears, seals, caribou, migratory birds and other vulnerable species, as well as the natural landscapes and biodiversity that we love so much. We can't let greed win.
