Please donate to VoteWater and fuel our fight for clean-water policy and politicians Giving Tuesday is coming up Nov. 28. Your generosity can have an impact. Tuesday, Nov. 28 is Giving Tuesday, a day when your generosity can help change our world — and our waterways. This 24-hour global day of giving is a chance for you to support VoteWater and our fight for cleaner water, for better policies and better politicians. As a 501(c)(4), your donation to VoteWater is not tax deductible, but we can do things most conservation groups can’t. We can support or oppose candidates for office. We can probe campaign finance. We can do almost unlimited lobbying. In short, we can fight for clean water in the political arena — where so much of this crucial battle takes place. Will you support our efforts by making a donation to VoteWater today or on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28? Now more than ever, the fight for cleaner water needs you. Donate to VoteWater First turkey, then Santa, then the Florida Legislature returns. We've got you covered Happy Thanksgiving from VoteWater! And as you enjoy turkey and the trimmings with loved ones this week, get ready for the clean-water challenges ahead. The Florida Legislature reconvenes Jan. 9, and during the 2024 session we’ll be stepping up our efforts to identify, analyze and track the bills that could have an effect on our waterways. And we’ll make it easier than ever for you to weigh in and make your voice heard in Tallahassee. With your support, we're beginning to turn the toxic tide in Florida. Help us keep up the pressure in 2024. Lake O watch: Going back up After briefly falling below 16 feet, heavy rains over the past week meant the water level in Lake Okeechobee shot back up to 16.11 feet as of Sunday, Nov. 19. Regional news media is beginning to report on the prospect of a "wet" dry season — and the problems that could cause for the lake and the northern estuaries. With drier weather in the immediate forecast, keep your fingers crossed that the lake level resumes its decline, the sooner the better. Join the Fight! Donate Now! P.S. Signatures Needed! The "Right to Clean and Healthy Waters" petition needs 900,000 signature by November 30 to get on the 2024 ballot.
