** It’s Still Free Palestine
------------------------------------------------------------
We have two days left for the Detroit City Council to consider and support the Ceasefire Resolution presented by council member Gabriela Santiago-Romero. We must let our representatives know it is time to hear our voices.
It has been six weeks of unfathomable terror raining down on the people of Gaza and Palestine. The Israeli government, funded by the United States of America, has stolen over 13,300 lives and displaced over 1.2 million people from their homes and land.
Our ability to build a world outside the confines of militarism, exploitation, colonialism, and greed relies on our steadfast cultivation and embodiment of interconnectedness. We believe in a world where our safety is found in one another’s humanity, not in borders, walls, apartheid, and militarization. It is in this spirit we continue to demand an immediate ceasefire.
This Wednesday, the Detroit City Council is voting on a potential ceasefire resolution. We need to urge the City Council to be brave and establish Detroit as one of the first major cities to demand a ceasefire. Here are four actions to take before November 22, 2023, to stand with Detroiters for Ceasefire ([link removed]) :
1. Make four calls today and tomorrow to urge Detroit City Council to pass the ceasefire resolution on 11/22/23 using this script ([link removed])
2. Email ([link removed]) your representatives
3. Sign on to the press release in solidarity with Detroiters for Ceasefire here ([link removed])
4. Attend the Detroit City Council Meeting (11/21/2023 at 10 AM on Zoom ([link removed]) or in person at Coleman A. Young Municipal Building Suite #1304)
