Ever been booking a flight only to find that $175 ticket is actually going
to cost you $300? That’s all thanks to junk fees. Junk fees are deceptive
charges meant to confuse or hide the full price from customers. They
include bank overdraft fees, resort fees at hotels, extra charges at
restaurants, fees to pay your rent or utility bill, and more.
[ [link removed] ]They add up: The average American spends $1,000 annually on junk fees.
But since the President announced his plans to crack down on the use of
these fees last fall, corporate lobbyists have been hard at work. Check
out this recent article:

As Americans deal with higher prices across the board, and corporations
across industries rake in record shattering profits, companies are making
billions off of junk fees. When our government acts in the best interest
of American consumers, companies and their lobbyists shouldn’t have the
power to stop it. But that’s exactly what is happening.
We have to get to the root of the problem and get corporate special
interests out of our politics. Whether I have my whiteboard or not, you
can count on me to stand up to these guys. I’m the only candidate in this
race who has never taken corporate PAC money, and the only one rejecting
federal lobbyist contributions.
That means I’m counting on folks like you to help us win this race and
take our fight to the U.S. Senate. Every dollar adds up. [ [link removed] ]Can you help
me stand tall against these powerful lobbyists?
