Hi John.

I hope you and your family are doing well as we near Thanksgiving.

I know this can be an enjoyable time to spend with loved ones. But I understand it comes with pressures too. Many Kansans are feeling the pinch of higher costs at the grocery store these days and need relief.

Lowering grocery prices is a top priority of mine. That's why I'm working with Republicans and Democrats on the U.S. House Agriculture Committee to bring costs down.

I can't represent our district from behind a desk in Washington, D.C. That's why I love my Sharice's Shift program where I shadow workers in key economic sectors to learn more about their concerns.

Recently, I worked a grocery shift at a Price Chopper Roeland Park. It was a great opportunity to listen directly to employees and shoppers about the need to lower grocery prices for Kansans.

I'm focused on concrete and bipartisan solutions to lower the cost of groceries.

That includes working with Kansas agricultural producers to secure our supply chains. This way, Kansas farmers can grow their crops more efficiently and bring down costs.

I'm also pushing to ensure more competition in key sectors like meat and poultry. Big corporations shouldn't take advantage of consumers and keep raising prices on everything from meat to bread and eggs.

And I'm focused on passing a long-term, bipartisan Farm Bill. This is a major piece of legislation that reauthorizes many of our nation's most important agricultural policies. We need a strong Farm Bill to keep growing our state's largest economic sector – Agriculture – and lower costs.

By focusing on concrete and bipartisan solutions, we can build an economy that works for everyone – especially for folks in the middle- and working-classes.

I know there's a lot more work to do. Thankfully, we are seeing important progress in other areas of our economy. That includes record numbers of new jobs and applications to create new small businesses.

Now it's time to keep it up and build on that progress by lowering costs. The last thing anyone needs right now are empty promises, division, and extremist politics that take us backwards.

I know things are tough for many right now, but Kansans are resilient. Our state and country have been through a lot over the last several years. But we can keep making progress if we work together.
