Hi friends, I'm Julian! You may have already heard from my little sister, Victoria, about what my mom's race for Congress means to her. I doubt I'll be able to outdo her, but I'll give it my best shot. (I'd appreciate it if you read till the very end.)
Right now, I'm 20 years old and in college studying mechanical engineering. It's fair to say my mom led me down a career in the sciences.
The issue of climate change is especially important to me. While scientists have sounded the alarm bells about carbon emissions for generations now, public officials refused to heed their warnings. President Obama took a significant step forward when he forged the Paris Climate Agreement, but our country backed out under Trump.
My generation felt discouraged. We felt powerless.
As billion-dollar catastrophes ravage our planet – hurricanes, wildfires, and storms bigger and more frequent than ever before – I'm given hope by Gen Z advocates and our progressive parents who are taking charge and finding solutions to protect our environment.
Friends, it's correct to say that this election is our LAST best hope of saving the planet.
We need drastic, immediate action on climate change, and the best way to make that happen is by putting scientists like my mom in positions of power. So, please, click here to contribute $25 to send my amazing scientist mom, Allyson Muñiz Damikolas, to Congress:
