Education is something near and dear to my heart. I was raised in the Midwest by two doctors and they always instilled in me the value of hard work and lifelong learning.
This is why a sensible education plan is at the top of my campaign priorities. We need to make sure every single child is receiving affordable and good-quality education from the get-go.
Can you add your name to my plan to support a new approach to education?
My family were some of my biggest cheerleaders while I was in school, and on graduation day nothing made me prouder than knowing I did right by my parents and made them proud.
Just take a look at these pictures of me graduating University: ↓
Now, as a single parent, I’m always thinking about the educational future of my son, Pierce. There’s no one right way for parents to pursue education for their children but here’s what I do know:
- Good early education needs to be accessible and affordable for all.
-
We need to have good quality public schools in every neighborhood in every state – socioeconomic status shouldn’t determine the quality of education available to you.
- Parents shouldn’t have to be stressed about the exorbitant cost of college and how they’re going to pay for it AND we shouldn’t have to worry about our kids taking on thousands of dollars of debt.
We need an overhaul of the educational system in America. It’s been obvious time and time again that it’s not working.
Something is wrong when folks who want to receive a high-quality education are priced out of getting one.
I want to change that, but I need your help.
Career politicians have made it clear that they don’t actually care about educational equality for everyday hardworking people.
Our elected officials have had opportunity after opportunity to abolish student loan debt, and instead we’ve only gotten temporary fixes.
They’re fine with the status-quo because it benefits them. I want to go to D.C. not to kick my feet up and chit chat at fancy galas. I want to fight for the Michiganders who need me most, shake things up, and achieve some real transformative change that can improve people’s lives.
Will you sign on to my petition to show your support to reform our broken education system?
Our government needs to spend more time talking about how to create long-term success for children today and future generations, and that conversation begins with education.
