Dear John,
Over forty lawmakers are now calling for a ceasefire in Israel and Palestine, a number that has nearly doubled in just the past week.
But with Americans overwhelmingly in support of a ceasefire (66%), why has less than 10% of Congress adopted that position?
Last week, AIPAC announced that they will spend $100 million [[link removed]] to defeat lawmakers who had the audacity to call for a ceasefire. AIPAC's affiliated super PACs like Democratic Majority For Israel will spend even more to make an example of elected officials who have spoken out and replace them with sycophants who are more compliant.
In the 2022 election, AIPAC and its affiliates spent millions [[link removed]] in key races to try to defeat lawmakers who dared to buck the AIPAC line and support policies against war.
The message that AIPAC is sending now is that if you dare to speak out against the humanitarian disaster being unleashed in Gaza and the killing of over 4,000 children or against taking the Middle East to the brink of total war -- you will get buried in outside spending that will cost you your re-election.
Donate now: help us defeat aipac and its war chest [[link removed]]
And so, few politicians -- from Congress all the way up to the White House -- dare to speak out.
But just because AIPAC and other groups have billionaires and unlimited sums of money doesn't mean that their victory is a foregone conclusion. Despite these threats, more lawmakers are speaking out, and unlike 10 or 20 years ago, we have groups like NIAC Action that are organizing, mobilizing volunteers, and preparing to fight like hell to back those elected officials with the courage to listen to their conscience and their voters rather than kowtow to AIPAC's billionaires.
What will decide these elections is not whether AIPAC and its affiliates spend $100s of millions, it's whether our side shows up. AIPAC is publicizing the money it plans to spend not just to intimidate lawmakers but to convey a sense of hopelessness so that our side gives up and decides not to show up before the election even gets underway.
We're not going to let that happen, and we are working now to ensure that NIAC Action and our many allies are ready to fight back and win in 2024.
But while we don't need $100s of millions, we do depend on grassroots support and the resources to be able to show up. We need you to chip in $50, $100, or an amount that's right for you so that we can marshall the grassroots to stand up to AIPAC in the halls of Congress and the Administration and at the election booth.

These political battles aren't settled in a day or even an election cycle. AIPAC's stronghold on Congress has ebbed and flowed for decades, and in 2015 we helped bring AIPAC to its lowest point when we beat them to secure the Iran deal.
But they regrouped and revised their strategy, pumping millions of right-wing donations into defeating progressives, which has proven damaging.
Now, we are going to bend that trendline in the other direction. The energy and momentum behind the movement for peace and against hawkish pro-war policies is the rare silver lining to the horrible circumstances underway. We must grab this opportunity to build. With your support, we can turn 2024 into a historic defeat for the forces of war. Please make a donation to NIAC Action today so we can make this happen.
All the best,
