<[link removed]>
John, the Conservatives had no solutions in their Kingâs Speech.
The cost-of-living crisis, the NHS crisis, the sewage crisis - the
Conservatives had no answers.
But Britain is at breaking-point, as our research shows.
72 billion litres
<[link removed]>
of sewage has polluted the River Thames since 2020, but sewage was not
mentioned once.
And the Conservatives ignored police response times, which have nearly
doubled in two years <[link removed]>. People
have been waiting over 13 hours in some cases!
Itâs clear - to tackle these problems we must remove this Conservative
Government.
John, can you donate to our anti-Conservative fund today to make this a
reality and finally deal with these crises?

The Israel-Gaza conflict
We have seen horrific images unfold over the past few weeks. The shocking
terrorist attacks by Hamas. The bombing of so much of Gaza.
Weâre calling on the UK Government to back an immediate bilateral ceasefire,
to achieve a political solution with Hamas out of Gaza, two-states and a
lasting peace.
A ceasefire cannot be about freezing the conflict, leaving Hamas in charge of
Gaza. It must be contingent upon both parties and the end goal must be a
two-state solution.
Only a lasting peace can deliver the security which both Palestinians and
Israelis deserve.

Remembrance Sunday
Last weekend we remembered and honoured all those who, through service and
sacrifice, have defended our nation and protected our freedoms.
Ed Davey MP laid a wreath at the Cenotaph during the National Service of
Remembrance on behalf of the Liberal Democrats.
Supreme Court ruling on Governmentâs Rwanda plan
The Governmentâs Rwanda plan - which Liberal Democrats have opposed at every
turn - has now been ruled unlawful by the Supreme Court.
So much time and money has been wasted on a policy which is âimmoral,
unworkable and incredibly costly for taxpayersâ, as our Home Affairs
Spokesperson Alistair Carmichael MP described it.
The only way to fix the asylum system is to create safe and legal routes for
sanctuary, as set out in our Conference motion:

Transgender Day of Remembrance
Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance, where we commemorate those who have
lost their lives due to transphobia.
We stand united in defending the rights and identities of trans people and
the entire LGBT+ community.

Tackling the housing crisis
Millions of people are finding it increasingly difficult to own a home or rent
affordable, quality housing.
We believe that significantly more homes need to be built each year,
including social homes, many of which are sold without being replaced.
Liberal Democrat-led councils are already working on this issue. For example,
Portsmouth
<[link removed]>
is building over 1,000 council homes,Kingston
<[link removed]> is
constructing over 100, andSt Albans
<[link removed]>
secured an ÂŁ8.5 million grant to improve the energy efficiency of council
homes.
These efforts are part of our commitment to providing people with the
affordable and high-quality homes they deserve.
You can find more details about our housing policy by reading our motion
passed at Autumn Conference:

âEye-wateringâ fees to obtain court transcripts
Sarah Olney MP is leading a campaign to urge the Government to scrap fees that
victims have to pay for court transcripts. This comes after Sarahâs constituent
Juliana Terlizzi, a victim of rape, was charged over ÂŁ7,000.
Sarah has tabled an amendment in Parliament to make transcriptions free for
victims.
Terlizzi was advised that reading a transcript of the proceedings would aid
her healing. In many cases like this, victims do not attend trial.
Sarah explained that, âJustice should not have a price tag. Yet currently
victims like Juliana are being denied access to justice if they cannot afford
to pay eye-watering feesâ.

Happy Diwali
Diwali has been celebrated in communities across the country this November,
with the main celebration held on the 12th.
We hope everyone celebrating had a time of light and happiness.
Remembering Brian Cotter
It is with great sadness that we let you know that our own Brian Cotter died
peacefully on the 14th November surrounded by his wife and children. Brian was
a proud small business man who spent 8 years in the Commons and 17 in the Lords.
He will be greatly missed and we send our condolences to his family.
