John,
There are two types of Republicans in Congress today: MAGA extremists and their enablers.
When John James voted to elect Mike Johnson, the most anti-reproductive rights Speaker in history, it sure seemed like he was enabling a full-blown attack on our freedoms.
After all, John James says he’ll represent our district, where voters overwhelmingly supported access to reproductive healthcare. Surely this was an oversight?
But looking at his track record, it might just be that James isn’t that different than the extremists:
-
John James supported overturning Roe v. Wade and promised to “not stop fighting until we end abortion.” This year, he voted to restrict the safe, legal abortion medication mifepristone on a national level.
So maybe it’s more than convenience that led to supporting a Speaker in Johnson who has previously compared the philosophy that legalized the right to an abortion to Hitler's and called abortion "a holocaust" and even called it genocide.
Let me make myself clear: In Congress, I will fight tooth and nail to pass protections for reproductive care.
We need people in office who actually reflect where we stand. We need more women in government, period, and that's a big reason why I'm running.
Whether he's an extremist or just an enabler, we need a voice for our rights in Congress. Would you chip in to ensure we have a pro-rights, pro-freedoms representative?
Diane
