Google Is Burying Alternative Health Sites to Protect People from “Dangerous” Medical Advice ([link removed] )

by Barry Brownstein

There are good reasons to be concerned that we are losing access to information with which to evaluate opposing sides of health issues. Google’s search engine algorithm has essentially ended traffic to many websites that question the medical orthodoxy.

FOR THEIR UNORTHODOX VIEWS, SOME PHYSICIANS ARE BEING TREATED AS MEDICAL HERETICS. GOOGLE’S SEARCH ENGINE ALGORITHM HAS ESSENTIALLY ENDED TRAFFIC TO THEIR WEBSITES. ([link removed] )

An Open Letter to “Democratic Socialists” Visiting Atlanta ([link removed] )

by Zilvinas Silenas

"For those of you who have not experienced socialism, the term 'democratic socialism' might seem innocent or perhaps even idealistic. As someone who has lived under it, for me, socialism is oppression, occupation, mass murder, severe material deprivation, and complete lack of freedom."

TACKING ON THE WORD “DEMOCRATIC” DOESN’T CHANGE THINGS. SOCIALISM HAS NEVER BEEN DEMOCRATIC. ([link removed] )

The Heroines of British Abolition ([link removed] )

by Lawrence W. Reed

Women played a critical role in the abolition movement, a fact often overlooked. On many matters, female abolitionists spoke with a moral authority that most men couldn’t quite muster.

THE MOST PROMINENT OF THESE HEROINES—AMONG THEM MARY WOLLSTONECRAFT, HANNAH MORE, MARY MORRIS KNOWLES, ELIZABETH HEYRICK, AND LUCY TOWNSEND—DESERVE TO BE REMEMBERED FOR THEIR WORK AND THEIR BOLDNESS. ([link removed] )

Various people have expressed their upset at Tyson, but many of the people who are upset at him are proving his point.

NEW WORDS & NUMBERS: Unschooling and Encouraging Self-Directed Children ([link removed] )

For many children, compulsory education and authority figures tend to inadvertently turn off their sense of curiosity and wonder about the world. Additionally, assigned districts can limit school choice for many parents and mandatory curricula can put unnecessary stress on educators. Are there solutions to these problems within the current framework? Is there any evidence to support changing the way we approach schooling to benefit children, parents, and teachers? Where did all these mandates originate? Join Antony Davies, James Harrigan, and special guest Kerry McDonald, author of Unschooled ([link removed] ) , as they discuss the public school system and more on this week’s episode of Words & Numbers.
