Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance, folks. It is a day to remember the lives of transgender and non-binary individuals we have lost to transphobia and senseless acts of violence.

I’m committed to making our state and country a place where no one faces discrimination or violence because of their gender identity or expression.

I also understand that legislation has a direct impact on the level of anti-trans violence in this nation. In a year where an unprecedented number of anti-trans bills were passed, it’s not enough to lend these victims our thoughts and prayers. We must honor them with action.

Today, and every day, I am committed to defending the rights and liberties of every American because that is the promise of our democracy. On this Transgender Day of Remembrance, I hope you'll join me in raising the trans flag with pride and to honor those lost.
