Thank you to our volunteers!

A total of 150 volunteers came together last Oct. 21 to remove litter from Glenwood Park.

Thank you to all the awesome volunteers with the Fort Worth Climate Safe Neighborhood Coalition who cleaned up Glenwood Park! On Saturday, October 21, 2023, TCU students and faculty, community volunteers, and City staff worked together to pick up litter and debris at the park and along the creek banks. Volunteers reported the following amazing results:


* 2,240 pounds of trash and debris removed
* 800 bags of litter filled
* 150 volunteers
* 2 miles of waterway cleaned
* 1 mile of roadway cleaned

The Fort Worth Climate Safe Neighborhood Coalition [ [link removed] ] hosted the park cleanup and a health fair, in a partnership with multiple community partners: Texas Christian University, the Historic Southside Neighborhood Association, Project Hope, Fort Worth Master Naturalists,?Fort Worth Police Department, Fort Worth Park and Recreation, Fort Worth Environmental Services, and several others.

Thank you for collaboratively dedicating your day to serve and keep Fort Worth So Safe, So Clean and So Green!

Volunteers clean bus stops citywide

Volunteers cleaned bus stops citywide.

Trinity Metro [ [link removed] ]'s annual Bus Stop Clean Up Day was a success. About 380 volunteers cleaned bus stops throughout the city, in this community-wide beautification effort.

The City of Fort Worth contributed with a street sweeper to assist with sweeping several Trinity Metro bus routes during this event. The City also provided vouchers so volunteers could take the garbage collected to one of our Drop-Off Stations [ [link removed] ].

Defend your drains this Holiday season!
Defend your drains through holiday celebrations!

What?s your favorite part of the holidays? The meals! Be extra careful when disposing of cooking oils, grease, gravy, and fats from fried or buttery foods - they can be hard on your home's pipes and sewer systems!

When fats, oils and grease (FOGs) go down the drain, they harden and cause sewer pipes to clog or back up. Sewage overflow can mean costly repairs and service interruptions for both homeowners and cities.

So let's cease the grease [ [link removed] ]! Properly dispose of holiday fats, oils, or grease by taking them to be recycled for free at one of the four City of Fort Worth Drop-Off Stations [ [link removed] ] or the?Environmental Collection Center [ [link removed] ]?now through Jan. 12.

Sharing a meal and Holiday traditions with family and friends can be so fun! When the celebration is over, where are you tossing all the hard plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and glass bottles? Toss packing materials

'Tis the season for?Holiday shopping. When new electronics, appliances and?gifts?are opened, where are you tossing all the packing materials? Packing peanuts, padded mailers, bubble wraps, and plastic air packs all belong in your brown garbage cart - those are not recyclable in Fort Worth facilities. Rigid StyrofoamTM blocks also do not belong in your blue recycling cart, but can be taken to our Drop-Off Stations [ [link removed] ] for a special recycling process.

Two new schools joined our School Green Teams Program!
Students make 'green' changes on their school campus

Keller Collegiate Academy National Honor Society and A.V. Cato Elementary are some of the schools enrolled in KFWB's School Green Teams program! Teams complete and log environmental activities for points. The team with the most points wins a tree planting and 'green packs' for their students.

Compost your holiday leftovers!

Composting Corner

The City's?Residential Food Waste Composting Program [ [link removed] ]?prevented 12,694 pounds of food waste from reaching our landfill in October. That's what we as a city strive for!

We encourage you to fight food waste by making small shifts in how you shop, store, and prepare food. Know what fruits and vegetables are in season, or buy frozen to reduce the amount of waste that goes to the landfill. With the holidays coming up, there is sure to be a lot of scraps and leftovers too!
