John,
ARC recently held our annual retreat at Mount Pali Adventures Camp. Over the course of a three-day weekend, our staff and ARC Members came together to build a stronger sense of community and deepen their understanding of the history of ARC, the significance of policy and legal reform, and the power of unity.
At ARC, we provide formerly incarcerated people with opportunities to thrive, not just succeed. Reentry is about more than providing jobs and housing, it’s also about building a community and a support system strong enough to withstand recidivism – and that is ARC’s special sauce.
John, your dollars help provide unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience for our Members. As 2023 comes to a close, consider making a gift in support of our community. ([link removed])

I stand with the ARC Community
“The retreat was a blast for me. I got the opportunity to see some friends from LA and to also bond with my Sacramento team. More importantly, I was able to see all of the amazing people who make what we do work. They say it takes a village and I am so proud of ours.”
-Johny D.
One of the retreat’s core themes revolved around the significance of policy and legal reform. Through meaningful discussions and interactive workshops, attendees gained insights into how legislative changes could, have, and will directly impact their lives. They were empowered to recognize their roles as advocates for reform, understanding that they could actively contribute to shaping the future through the power of policy change. This segment of the retreat left participants feeling not only informed but also motivated to play a more active role in advocating for positive reforms in their communities.
“This year’s retreat gave me both wonderful education on the history of ARC, the impact of advocacy and left me with the understanding that through community is how we can effectively change hearts and minds.”
-Jose N.
People came together from diverse backgrounds and walks of life, sharing their personal stories, experiences, and challenges. This open and supportive environment created a space where attendees felt genuinely heard and understood. It was in these moments of vulnerability and empathy that lasting connections were formed, allowing for a sense of unity that transcended the weekend.
