(And if you missed who Tricia Cotham is, she’s the legislator who switched parties earlier this year after assuring the voters in her district that she was a pro-choice Democrat, and was the key vote the GOP needed to override the Governor’s veto on their abortion ban.)
Tricia Cotham lied to voters, to donors, and to us, her colleagues, to get where she is today. It’s critical that we vote her out so that the people of Mecklenburg County can have a representative with integrity, whose word actually means something.
And now that she’s switching districts to run in my House seat, things just got personal, John. I’m the first Democrat to ever represent this seat, and I’ll be damned if I let it slip back into the GOP’s hands.
I’m not eligible to run against her myself—even if I weren’t running for Treasurer, the GOP drew me out of the seat when they drew her into it. But it’s absolutely critical that whoever the Democratic challenger against Tricia Cotham is, we support them with everything we have.
We also need well-funded statewide campaigns who will turn out voters all over the state, so that we’re never reliant on just one district like this ever again.
That’s why I’m asking you if you’ll join me in splitting a donation between my campaign and the NC House Democrats’ campaign fund, so that we can make sure that whoever does take on Tricia next year has all the support they need to send her packing.
