Ex-RNC chair torches Donald Trump: "Put his ass in jail"
Former Republican National Committee Chair and present-day party pariah Michael Steele said there’s only one way to stop the disgraced ex-president's incessant attacks on judges and their staff. "Put his ass in jail. That’s how you end it. That’s how it stops," Steele said. Not to be glib, but that much-deserved outcome won't actually shut Trump up, either. He's basically a grievance genie let out of its, um, box. We're stuck with this man-child's tirades till his ticker quits.

Former first lady Rosalynn Carter dies at 96
Rosalynn Carter, one-half of the longest-lived presidential couple in American history and perhaps the most egalitarian as well, died on Sunday, at the age of 96. She was widely credited with expanding the role of first lady beyond the nation’s most prominent hostess to an active partner in policy and international travel, becoming a trusted adviser even in an era when most newspapers would only call her "Mrs. Carter." "Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished," former President Jimmy Carter said in a statement on Sunday. "She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me." Rest in peace, Rosalynn.

Decades later, bigoted banking practices still target homebuyers of color
100K Acts of Solidarity: Racist redlining policies first came to light decades ago, and yet shady banks still exploit homebuyers of color by arbitrarily raising their rates and systematically undervaluing their properties. Will you add your name to demand banks abandon their racist agenda targeting homebuyers of color?
Richest 1% account for more global carbon emissions than poorest 66%
The most comprehensive study of global climate inequality ever undertaken shows that this elite group, made up of 77 million people including billionaires, millionaires, and those paid more than $140,000 a year, accounted for 16% of all CO2 emissions in 2019 — enough to cause more than a million excess annual deaths due to heat. Unsurprisingly, the suffering falls disproportionately upon people living in poverty, marginalized ethnic communities, migrants, and women and girls, who live and work outside or in homes vulnerable to extreme weather. The report also found that it would take about 1,500 years for someone in the bottom 99% to produce as much carbon as one of the richest billionaires does in a year.

Ron DeSantis refuses to condemn Elon Musk's endorsement of antisemitic conspiracy theory
Floundering presidential wannabe and part-time Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis failed the easiest of tests on Sunday, refusing to condemn Elon Musk over his brazen endorsement of an antisemitic conspiracy theory that falsely accused Jewish people of pushing "hatred against whites." Ron's been hemorrhaging supporters in his bid for the White House this year, so calling out the world's richest antisemite apparently seemed like bad politics to the well-heeled Oval Office hopeful. Instead, he parroted disingenuous bullshit about Elon having an unfair target on his back since purchasing Twitter, because if there's one thing entitled billionaires need, it's more leaders valiantly stepping up to defend them on the world stage.

Far-right "anarcho-capitalist" wins Argentinian presidency
Javier Milei, a 53-year-old economist and chainsaw-wielding television talking head, wants to abolish the central bank, cut the federal government in half, eliminate the departments of health and education entirely, loosen labor laws, let citizens sell their organs for profit, and ban schools from teaching sex education, which he has described as a Marxist plot to destroy the family. He may sound like an AI-generated GOP fever dream candidate gunning for the White House, but he's actually Argentina's new libertarian president, and he's coming in hot.
Donald Trump reveals Melania's reaction to Russia pee tape allegations...
...is a phrase that should never have blipped on anyone's radar, but thanks to Republicans anointing the groping, grifting, serially indicted con man as their party's savior eight years ago, we all have this shit to contend with, and it isn't going away anytime soon.
