Congrats all, for killing SB 50! But now we face the Sons of SB 50 — one, an SB 50 copycat bill by Assemblywoman Buffy Wicks, a close ally of state Sen. Scott Wiener. And the second is SB 920, Wiener 's BRAND NEW community-killing and divisive plan to end all constraints on developers, letting them erect fourplexes by-right on every single-family street in California -- except in the smallest of towns.
Please join us Sat. March 14 at 10 am! Learn why AB 725 was approved by the Assembly, and how to kill it in the Senate. AND hear the hot details on Wiener's outrageous new effort to kill home ownership. If we let Wiener waste the legislature's time in 2020 — as he did throughout 2018 and 2019 — Sacramento will lose another year and AGAIN fail to adopt affordable housing solutions.
AB 725 by Buffy Wicks “weaponizes” the state’s Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA) – to shift dense housing away from dense areas and busy boulevards and into single-family and duplex neighborhoods. It makes NO sense.
SB 920 is Wiener's third attempt, and he relies once again on his utterly false claim that California lacks enough urban space to build housing -- in fact, California is awash in untapped "zoning capacity" for housing.

Please acquaint yourself beforehand with the spreadsheet/summary below: Embarcadero Institute Chart and RHNA Spreadsheet: 10 of 14 big counties are approving HUGE, even EXCESSIVE amounts, of luxury housing. But state housing laws like SB 1818, created by Sacramento not by cities, produce FEW affordable units.
