Hi John,
One of the biggest benefits of membership in the Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC) is access to local, state, and national political leaders. Another is the satisfaction that comes with helping those leaders get elected.
Applications are open for membership as part of the 2024-2025 term for the FCDC! You can apply to be a Voting or Associate Member of the FCDC here: fairfaxdemocrats.org/join [[link removed]]
At our September meeting, we adopted a resolution [[link removed]] laying out the composition of the FCDC for the 2024-2025 biennium and structure of our reorganization process. Here's how it'll work:
** PHASE 1—In-progress until 5:00 PM, Monday, November 27: Any resident of Fairfax County, age 13 or older, can apply for membership on the FCDC. There are two types of membership, both considered to be full members of the Committee:
* Voting: Required to attend a meeting once every 120 days, can vote on motions, can serve as officers of the Committee. Limited to 150 per Supervisor (Magisterial) District. Dues are $100.00 for the 2-year membership. Membership fee waivers are available.
* Associate: No attendance requirement, cannot vote on motions or serve as officers, can be members of Caucuses and participants of Standing Committees. No limit on the number allowed at the County or District level. Dues are $60.00 for the two-year membership. Membership fee waivers are available.
** November 27 at 5:00 PM: Membership applications must be complete, including dues payment or approved fee waiver requests submitted, by this time to participate in the FCDC Reorganization process.
** PHASE 2—December 2 to December 9: Districts will meet to elect their 2024-2025 leadership and vote in Associate members. Where necessary, caucuses are held in which the registered voters of Fairfax County may vote to fill the contested seats of the 150 voting members in each District. Caucuses will only be held if the number of applicants for the district exceeds 150 or if the election of a candidate is opposed.
* Check the reorg meeting dates below my signature or keep an eye on the FCDC Calendar [[link removed]] for the dates, times, and how to join these meetings.
** PHASE 3—January 9, 2024: The FCDC convenes a county reorganization meeting in which the officers for the 2-year term are elected and bylaws amendments are considered by the Voting Membership.

The Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC) is the largest local affiliate of the Democratic Party in Virginia. Accounting for 1 in 5 votes for statewide Democratic candidates, Fairfax County is vital to keeping the Commonwealth blue and moving progressive policies forward. FCDC is at the center of the action, made up of over 1000 community leaders and activists working year-round to educate voters, advocate for issues, and get Democrats up and down the ballot elected.
