Hi ,
(Lea este boletín de noticias en español) ([link removed])
For the past week, Los Angeles coordinated urgently with our state and federal partners to make sure nothing stood in our way of safely reopening the 10 freeway.
I’m proud to announce that the 10 is now safely OPEN. ([link removed])
This is proof that locking arms ([link removed]) delivers real results for Angelenos.

** Ensuring a Safe Reopening
------------------------------------------------------------
Following extensive tests conducted by Caltrans, the concrete and temporary supports have undergone testing to ensure that the bridge can bear weight safely while construction continues.
Tests include:
* Core sample tests of the concrete for strength certified by an independent testing lab.
The results met or exceeded national standards.
* Steel rebar tests to make sure safety requirements are certified by an independent testing lab.
The results met or exceeded national standards.
* Chemical tests of the concrete columns to check for any long-term deterioration.
The results showed the 10 was safe for drivers.
In addition to repairing the columns, engineers will fortify the bridge with additional steel reinforcements to make it stronger than it was before the fire last week.
The freeway will be continuously monitored ([link removed]) to ensure it remains safe for commuters by installing devices to monitor any structural shifts or movements by the freeway during use. Manual daily surveys will also be conducted to verify the accuracy of the electronic measurements.
** Traffic and Closures
------------------------------------------------------------
While all five lanes are now fully open, some street closures remain in effect:
For I-10 Westbound:
* The Alameda exit will remain CLOSED in the westbound direction.
* 8th Street on-ramp to 10-West will remain CLOSED.
* Through traffic allowed on the I-10 West.
All I-10 Eastbound on and off ramps will be open and through traffic allowed.

** Support for Businesses
------------------------------------------------------------
Last week I stood alongside ([link removed]) Downtown business owners and leaders to announce support and resources for businesses impacted by the 10 closure, this includes:
* A micro-enterprise grant program. Applications are open ([link removed]) until midnight on December 10.
* Assessment and surveys from the City’s Business Source Centers in the immediately impacted area to provide resources and support.
* Establishing a Local Business Assistance Resource Center that will open in the nearby area to serve as a one-stop shop for resources and support to businesses impacted by the I-10 freeway.

** Live updates
------------------------------------------------------------
My team will be giving its daily traffic update tomorrow at 6:00 am from the Department of Transportation's Traffic Control Center with updated traffic guidance.
The briefing will be provided in English at 6:00 am and in Spanish at 6:20 am.
TUNE IN ([link removed])
Although it took us days instead of months to repair this critical junction of the 10, I know that any small disruption to Angelenos’ daily commute can have a huge impact.
I want to thank Angelenos for their patience, and for coming together to ensure the smooth operation that led us to this day.
Please continue to stay informed and follow the latest updates on street closures that remain in effect at: Emergency.LACity.gov/Updates.
