Williams Weekly
Dear Texans,
It has been a busy week in Washington, D.C. addressing the important issues facing our state, our nation and the world! Read below for an update on my work serving you.
Holding Mayorkas Accountable
For too long, President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas have misled Congress and ignored the American people. Under Mayorkas’ leadership, encounters at our southern border continue to climb with no relief in sight. Mayorkas’ inaction at the border and refusal to uphold his Constitutional oath to serve our nation has put American lives in jeopardy. Because of this, I believe he is unfit to lead the Department of Homeland Security. I am proud to have cosponsored H.Res.8 calling for his impeachment. It is past time we put America first and hold those who are risking the lives of Texans and Americans accountable.
Biden Stands With China
Democrats have turned thriving U.S. cities into crime-ridden wastelands, disregarding citizens' safety and forcing them to endure the deadly consequences. This week Biden showed the American people where his priorities are. Thanks to his desire to impress the communist leader of China, San Francisco's extensive problems have been solved in just days. It is clear that under Democrat rule the well-being of American citizens is last.
House Committee on Small Business Hearing
Since Biden took office, small businesses have reported that inflation, burdensome regulations, and worker shortages are wreaking havoc on operations. I led a hearing to discuss how SBA’s resource partners are advising our nation’s small businesses on how to deal with these various challenges. As Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business, I am fighting each day to restore accountability, transparency, and affordability to Main Street. Watch my line of questioning here.
House Committee on Financial Services Hearing
Over the last year, our nation’s Federal banking agencies have been bombarding our financial system with excessive regulations and dangerous proposals like Basel 3, long-term debt requirements, and climate risk management standards. It is alarming that our banking agencies are rolling out these types of proposals in a rushed fashion, without considering how these combined regulations and requirements might impact innovation, limit access to capital, and threaten economic stability. I have been actively working with Members on this Committee and the Committee on Small Business to be the voice for Main Street in the rulemaking process. Watch my line of questioning here.
In Case You Missed It!
I joined the Mark Davis show and WBAP to discuss the top issues facing our nation. From the fight to secure our southern border to reversing Biden’s failed economic policies to bring affordability back to Main Street, each day I am fighting to uphold the values of TX-25.
In God we trust,
Roger Williams
